Nonprofit Grant Database

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, there are several nonprofit grant databases and platforms that organizations can use to search for potential funding opportunities. Keep in mind that the availability of databases and specific grants may change over time. Here are some well-known grant databases that were widely used:

  1. Foundation Center (now Candid):
    • The Foundation Center, now known as Candid, provides a comprehensive database of grants and foundations. They offer services like Foundation Directory Online, which allows users to search for potential funders and grants.
  2. GrantStation:
    • GrantStation is a subscription-based service that provides access to a database of grant opportunities for nonprofits. It offers tools to help organizations identify potential funders and grants.
  3. GuideStar by Candid:
    • GuideStar, also part of Candid, offers information on nonprofits and foundations. While it doesn’t provide a grant database directly, it offers valuable insights into nonprofit organizations, including financial information and program details.
  4. Grants.gov:
    • Grants.gov is a government-wide database of grant opportunities. It’s a centralized platform where federal agencies post grant opportunities. Nonprofits, local governments, and individuals can search and apply for federal grants through this portal.
  5. Idealist:
    • Idealist is a platform that includes a job and volunteer search, but it also has a searchable database of grants and funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations.
  6. Chronicle of Philanthropy:
    • The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a publication that covers the nonprofit sector. While not a dedicated grant database, it often features articles and resources on fundraising and grants.
  7. Pivot:
    • Pivot is a comprehensive funding database that covers a wide range of disciplines, including science, technology, and the social sciences. It’s particularly useful for research-related grants.
  8. GrantWatch:
    • GrantWatch is a subscription-based service that provides a database of grants for various sectors, including nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals.

Please note that the availability and features of these databases may have changed since my last update, and new platforms may have emerged. It’s advisable to check the current status and offerings of these resources or explore new ones that have become available since then. Additionally, local community foundations and government agencies often provide grant opportunities, so consider exploring those avenues as well.
