Ohio Capital Improvement Grant

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the State of Ohio provides funding for capital improvement projects through various programs and grants. The specific programs available and their eligibility criteria may change over time. It’s important to check with the relevant state agencies or departments for the most up-to-date information. As of my last update, the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) and the Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA) were involved in administering some of these programs. Here are some avenues to explore:

  1. Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC): The Ohio Public Works Commission is a key agency involved in funding capital improvement projects at the local level. The State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP) is one of the programs administered by OPWC. SCIP provides funding for local infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, stormwater, and other public facility improvements.
  2. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): The Ohio Development Services Agency administers the Community Development Block Grant program, which provides funding to local governments for various community development activities, including capital improvement projects.
  3. Local Government Innovation Fund (LGIF): The Local Government Innovation Fund, administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency, provides funding to local governments and other entities for innovative projects that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. Capital Improvements and Economic Development Programs: The Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) may have information on state-funded capital improvement programs. Check their website or contact them directly for information on available grants.
  5. Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC): The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission oversees the construction, renovation, and maintenance of state facilities. While their focus is primarily on state-owned buildings, they may have programs that impact local capital improvement projects.
  6. Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT): For transportation-related capital improvement projects, the Ohio Department of Transportation may be a relevant resource. ODOT administers various grant programs for local governments related to transportation infrastructure.
  7. Grants.Ohio.gov: The State of Ohio has a centralized portal for finding and applying for grants – Grants.Ohio.gov. You can search for available grants, including those related to capital improvements, on this platform.

Before applying for any grant, carefully review the eligibility criteria, application process, and deadlines. It’s also advisable to contact the relevant agency or department directly for guidance. Keep in mind that program details may change, and new opportunities may become available, so checking with the most recent sources is crucial.
